Old Jock Family Farm is owned and operated by Buddy and Brooke Sampson in Frankfort, Kentucky. We are a small angus cattle farm, specializing in 100% grass-fed beef. A dream to one day own a farm grew into a very pointed path---we wanted to raise food on our farm for our family, friends, and community that we KNEW was raised as it should be. As we learned what conventional meat was all about, we knew we could do better. We began preparation for our beef farm in 2010, readying the land and grass, putting up fencing, and getting our watering system in place. In March of 2012, we purchased our first lot of angus feeder steers. These guys went straight from their mama's milk to God's green grass. Never any GMO grains or feed for our guys, and definitely no gummy bears or Moon Pies like some conventional beef farmers are doing! Grass that has never been treated with pesticides, fresh water, and sunshine have done the trick! We have a healthy, small herd that is now ready for harvest. We only lack the USDA label that says "organic" (this takes three years to obtain!), but our grass-fed beef is as organic as you can get! OJFF now offers pastured broilers to our customers and starting in September of 2015, we will have farm fresh eggs for our customers as well.
