Description
The Coalition for the Homeless is the lead advocate for the homeless in Louisville. We serve people just like you. And it's working.
The Coalition for the Homeless ends homelessness for Louisvillians. We prevent and eliminate homelessness through advocacy, education, and the coordination of our 29 member agencies. We were founded in 1984 as a community response to the growing issue of homelessness after several people died on Louisville’s streets.
Our programs succeed in addressing the root causes of homelessness and in making services to the homeless more cost-effective, efficient, and humane. We succeed because we aim not only to change the lives of the homeless, but also to prevent at-risk Louisvillians from becoming homeless in the first place.
Our member agencies provide housing, food, clothing, health care, and legal services to the homeless—from veterans living on the streets to families living out of their cars. Our job is to strategically evaluate the needs of the homeless and of our agencies, and to implement smart, long-term solutions.
