Description
Ingrid Bojanowski, founder of Kentucky Gymnastics Academy, opened the business in 1981. She had been the Gymnastics Director at the St. Matthews YMCA for ten years and was ready for a facility which was uniquely designed for gymnastics. (I.E. a place where you didn't have to set up and take down the equipment every day!) She wanted to offer children in the Louisville area the type of gymnastics experience she had while growing up in Germany. Her love for gymnastics combined with her gift for teaching children provided the foundation for a successful business.
For thirteen years, Kentucky Gymnastics Academy was located on Chamberlain Lane, in the Jefferson Trade Center. Thirteen years without air conditioning!! The gym was small, but the instructional quality was superb, and the company grew.
In 1994, Kentucky Gymnastics Academy moved into a "just for gymnastics" building in the Eastpoint Business Center, just outside of Anchorage. An addition in 1999 allowed Kentucky Gymnastics Academy to become a multi-purpose facility, offering a day care, an academic pre-school, and other activities in addition to gymnastics. In the summer of 2007 KGA moved to a new location at 1920 Stanley Gault Parkway. In 2015, the gym moved to its current location at 1160 Avoca Station Court.
In 2015 the business was purchased by ten year employee, Shannon Wickel. Shannon's professional background in dance and gymnastics instruction made her the perfect candidate to continue the long standing
