Description
Inspired by the movie, The Blind Side, 10-yr-old Jessica Collins was determined in 2009 to provide a bed for someone who didn't have one, preferably a child. Working with the her church family, not only did she provide one, but a place to sleep for 6 children. Driven by this success, she expanded into Shelby and surrounding counties and is working with the local school systems to identify needs. The goal is to help as many children as possible when the needs arise. Now an official ministry of First Presbyterian Church, A Place to Sleep has provided beds to over 1,300 children as of 6/1/17. Currently there are more than 50 children on the waiting list ranging in ages from newborn through high school. Help in the form of furniture, bedding or cash donations are always welcomed. All cash donations go through the church for accounting and tax purposes. On-line credit card donations may be made by going to www.cflouisville.org. 100% of funds are used for beds and bedding.
